Title: Bernard Ringeissen (1934-2025)
Post by: eschiss1 on Tuesday 13 May 2025, 21:53
Belatedly, just noticed that this pianist, who did a fair amount for unsung music, died on 4 April. (His 91st birthday would have been this Thursday.) His name came up here some years ago in conjunction with a recording he made of sonatas (both cello and piano sonatas, and a few for piano solo) by Louis Abbiate. He also famously recorded the Op.35 etudes of Charles-Valentin Alkan, for example.

I'm sorry to hear this. Ringeissen's excellent recording of the Alkan Op.35 Etudes was one of the very first (if not the first) recordings I bought for myself. He was a very solid pianist, technically very assured, with a strong, clear, sonorous sound.

Thanks, Eric, for bringing it to attention.
