1912-14:   Symphony No.1 "Symphonia carminum": 26 minutes    * + (Royal Concertegouw Orchestra cd)
1917/32:   "La veille" for mezzo-soprano and orchestra: 10 minutes
1919-20:   Symphony No.2 "Prelude a la nouvelle journee": 19 minutes  *   + (Donemus, Q Disc and Chandos cds)
1921-22:   Symphony No.3 "Threne et Paean": 20 minutes    *
1930:         Symphonic Prologue: 7 minutes
                   Passacaglia and Cortege: 14 minutes    *    + (Q Disc cd)
                   Interlude: 4 minutes
                       (extracted from the Incidental Music to "The Flying Dutchman")
1940-41:   Symphony No.4 "Les victories": 30 minutes    *
1941-45:   Symphony No.5 "Les lendemains chantants": 44 minutes   *
1956-58:   Symphony No.6 "Les minutes heureuses": 25 minutes    *    + (Chandos cd)
1963-65:   Symphony No.7 "Dithyrambes pour les temps a venire": 18 minutes   *    +  (Chandos cd)

There's still another recording of the Second Symphony available - my favourite version and first recommendation for this work: Lucas Vis conducting the Hague PO ('Residentie' Orchestra) on a Donemus cd, Composer's Voice CV-KN1.

BTW: 'Matthijs'  ;) - I admire your struggle with al these Dutch spellings.  ;D

since Matthijs was born Matheas Christianus Franciscus van der Meulen ... ?!

Actually, he wasn't born with this name - the form of which clearly refers to the Catholic use of baptism and offering the newborn a name for the occasion.  8)

The young Van der Meulen himself adopted his artist name "Matthijs Vermeulen" in 1910, when h was a music student.
