Dating from 1934, the Symphony in A minor is very much 'school of' Franz Schmidt, who was in fact Bricht's teacher.
The performance by the Fort Wayne Philharmonic under British conductor Andrew Constantine sounds a little careful, especially the strings, which lack body and lustre, but all things considered this is a very good effort.

Overall, interesting music, but not great music. May I now make a plea for Toccata to tackle what is by comparison a towering masterpiece, namely Wilhelm Berger's Symphony No.2? There's a very good 'house' orchestra in Liepāja, Latvia just waiting to record it...

Agree for 100%, perhaps with a fine recording of Berger's Variations and Fugue op. 97? Toccata please!!!
