I don't know the orchestra but the conductor is identified in the BBC announcer's introduction. I will have to rely on someone else being able to supply an accurate spelling though. I am not prepared to attempt an approximation and am too tired to search any longer on the net.


The conductor's name is Karolos Trikolidis.

Thank you so much for Magic (May) Herbs!
I have been looking for this song cycle ever since I first heard it in Athens (1982) with Caridis conducting the Johann Strauss Orchestra of Vienna. The program included Mahler's Symphony No. 1 and I remember distinctly the printed program in which  Caridis's work was announced as Magic Herbs.Whatever...
