Uploads from YouTube: please don't

[Ilja]

Dear all,

We will not be approving any posts made in the Downloads board containing uploads that are sourced from YouTube. The reason is twofold. First, we don't see the point in such duplication; there are ways to download these recordings, but we'll leave that issue up to members themselves.

Secondly, the copyright situation of such recordings is often murky at best, and while YouTube can afford to offer monetization and more or less ignore the copyright implications through Google's sheer legal clout, we cannot.

Further clarification: this also applies to similar platforms, such as Archive.org, Vimeo and Nebula.

Best,
Ilja
