Has this symphony ever been performed? Did his heirs scuttle it? It was going to be premiered in London, right?  And then he died.

Dundonnell

All I know is that the symphony was incomplete when he died.

Alan Howe

The Guardian obituary says:
His death leaves incomplete a Fourth Symphony, commissioned by an international consortium that included the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Southbank Centre in London.

Thank you. I know with Gorecki many times it was not that simple. He fine tuned his works for years. I wonder how complete the symphony is and will anyone take it up. I wonder how the family feels about it. It must be fairly complete as he had made plans to be in London for the premiere. I should ask his publishers.

BFerrell

His publisher, Boosey, says they have no manuscript and no information yet. I  assume the family is holding the manuscript or it was destroyed.
