Not perhaps the greatest of American symphonic composers, nevertheless Ward does write in a traditional and eminently accessible idiom. His music is also very well represented on cd.

(This catalogue has been astonishingly difficult to compile since many of Ward's most recent compositions do not seem to have been published. The list of compositions on what seems to be an official website is incomplete and dates are insecure. Few online sources, for example, seem to be aware that he has written a Seventh Syymphony.)
