I would really like cpo or BIS to record more von Koch, a composer who at the beginning of his career shared some stylistic development with his contemporary colleague Lars-Erik Larsson.
The Swedish Dance Rhapsody, the Nordic Capriccio, the Saxophone Concerto, Scandinavian Dances nos. 3 & 6 (from the collection of 12 Dances composed 1958-60) and the 8 Characters for Violin and Piano are all coupled on a Phono Suecia disc, and it seems like it's still available:

And the Moderato and Allegro for 11 Saxophones from 1981 is on another Phono Suecia disc:

The Sinfonietta, Op. 44 is included on a 2CD-set with archive recordings by Phono Suecia called Conducting Composers. Erland von Koch conducts the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Unfortunately, this overview doesn't include information about the composers, but the Sinfonietta is on disc 2 (tracks 4-6).

The Piano Concerto (3rd) from 1970/72 is recorded in the wind band version and included on a Swedish Naxos release called Svensk Musik för Blåsare (Swedish Music for Wind Band). There's a link to that specific recording on the von Koch topic on this forum!

Thanks very much for these additions, Morten  :)

As you will understand, with so many compositions by von Koch to search for it is easy to overlook some recordings ;D It is, however, sadly true that there is such a vast amount of his music which has never been recorded :(

M. Henriksen

I do understand that it's easy for recordings and compositions to slip under the radar here and there. I'm just very grateful for your very valuable work (I don't know how you get the time!?) and try to contribute to your catalogues the best way I can  :)
I hope you have the time for Yngve Sköld as well!

Thank you :)

Now that I am retired my time is my own to use as I please ;D Spending a couple of days going through the SMIC archive of 503 Erland von Koch items (and of course, trying to translate many of the titles from Swedish) may not be everyone's idea of fun but I enjoy it ;D

Incidentally, several of von Koch's early works (the 1st Symphony, 1st Violin Concerto) are not in the archive which certainly means that they are unpublished. It may imply that they were withdrawn by the composer....but not, I think, necessarily.

Skold ??? I wasn't planning to add him.........but now that you mention him ;D

Where did you found the information about the first violin concerto? I always thought that the Triptychon is maybe the first violin concerto...

Best,
Tobias

How reliable a source I do not know but the fact that it was given an opus number suggested a certain degree of possibility/probability. As I said, the work may have been written but remained unpublished (it is not in the SMIC archive) and, possibly, withdrawn ???
