btw Wikipedia article does seem interesting...

incidentally there are at least two other "Zaremba" composers from the Romantic era (Władysław Zaremba, Ukrainian, 1833-1902, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian Wikipedia articles, IMSLP page); and his son Sigismund Vladislavovitch Zaremba (1861-1915, Russian-Ukrainian, English and Russian Wikipedia articles, IMSLP page.) :) Might be related to Nikolai, for all I know (perhaps closely even.)

belatedly, about Sigismund Zaremba (1861-1915), RISM has material (I was looking up Zarebski and found only Zaremba...) relating to his symphonic poem "Sphinx" in F-sharp minor, op.50. Hrm. (15 pp Autograph score only, @ Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, no parts listed.)
