Re Kanitz: interesting-looking set of published works from this fellow, assuming he changed his name to Ernest Kanitz (and they're not just different people) (Definitely the same person; emigrated to the US in 1938, became a US citizen in 1944). There's at least two violin sonatas (no.2 published in 1965), though- I wonder which one... (guessing it's probably his earlier Op.10 sonata, published in 1924 by Universal Edition. Ah, and the CD description says as much. Got it. Right...)

A (posthumous) bio of his lists 2 violin sonatas (1947, 1951) even though his first sonata of 1924 had been published (and the sonata - 1947 or 1951 - that was published in 1962 has been recorded also btw, as "Violin Sonata No.2") - suggesting but not proving that maybe he revised the 1924-published (composed - when? hrm) sonata in 1947, or that one of them wasn't numbered, or- 1924-pub=no.1, 1947=no.2, 1951=no.3, or... - anyway. Looking forward to hearing about the works on this disc.
