Important event. The Fantastic Symphony discovered! On March 2nd 2018 at the Sub Carpathian Philharmonic took place an extraordinary event – the premiere of Symphonie fantastique pour orchestra "Évocations" op. 78 by Raul Koczalski. Magdalena Wolińska, Jean Jacques Jarnicki and myself have discovered its manuscript in August 2017. Our efforts, aided by Maestro Łukasz Wódecki, led to the preparation of the score and the partss. Thanks to this phenomenal conductor's initiative and director Marta Wierzbieniec's favour, this piece could be performed at the Sub Carpathian Philharmonic.
I would like to thank the Director Marta Wierzbieniec, Maestro Łukasz Wódecki, the entire orchestra and everyone who aided in my project of bringing Raul Koczalski's works back to life.
Inside the Polish music environment lives the idea that Polish symphonic didn't exist. Thanks to our premiere I can once again disagree with this claim. Polish symphonic existed, one just needs to find it and then perform it.
I promise to do my best to record this piece. I would also like to inform, that in the near future I am planning setup the performance of Raul Koczalski's 3rd Piano Concerto and 2nd Symphony.
I must also mention, that in the first part of the concert, Maestro Wódecki phenomenally conducted the Triple Concerto by Beethoven, in which the soloists were excellent artists: Tomasz Jocz, Mariusz Patyra and Bartosz Koziak.

This is all very welcome news, although I must say that repeated listening to the recent CD of the first two piano concertos hasn't revealed anything more to them than was apparent on first hearing. They are both very attractively packaged and effective pieces but not, I suspect, works which will retain their charm if played too often. That's how it is with some music.

or anyway with those two works of his which, with the Kleine Sonatine for piano @ imslp, are all most of us have heard or seen in score up to this moment. I'm still looking forward to.

Yes, the PCs reveal a minor, but charming talent - as Mark implies. Perhaps this newly rediscovered symphony will change that perception...

Has anybody looked at the cello concerto? A Romantic idiom cello concerto of any quality from a Polish composer would be quite welcome.
