Heinrich Karl Johann Hofmann  Born Berlin 13.1.1842  Died Gross-Tabarz, Thuringia  16.7.1902
He attended Theodor Kullak's academy in Berlin,  where he studied under Kullak, Dehn and Wuerst.  Following the success of his first opera, Cartouche, he decided to devote himself to composition.  He is now best remembered if at all for his chamber music and fourhand piano compositions
