Hello,

Leokadiya Kashperova's Piano Trio was perfomed in 2020 by the Gould Piano Trio.

It was once listenable here : https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000q8t1

Does someone have this ?

Thanks

It was the world premiere of the work, so I expect Boosey is looking to release a recording commercially.

That Gould Trio are good! And the work at first listening suggests it is worth repeated listening. Anyone know the titles of the movements?

Mark Thomas

I. Allegro agitato
II. Andante
III. Scherzo
IV. Finale

From the programme of a performance this August in Edinburgh by the Gould Trio.

I'm interested in seeing if the "Scherzo" has a more detailed indication (apparently the Finale is an Allegro - see e.g. Boosey) so I'm going to put in an interlibrary loan request for Syracuse University's copy of the recent (2023) copy of the "Kashperova edition" score... I don't think the work was published before 2019 but I may be mistaken.

From the library catalog description of the 2023 edition: "With a preface and editorial notes in English, German, and French. This work was composed sometime in the 1930s, and only discovered in 2019. It was premiered in Cardiff, December 2020 by the Gould Piano Trio. This edition is based on the composer's manuscript." Which is why it wasn't published until 2019. :)

My copy, on loan from the Manhattan School of Music's Peter Sharp library (via my local public library) and due back in a few days, has movements : Allegro agitato (A minor common time, 277 bars), Andante (C major 6/8, 153 bars), Scherzo: Allegro (F major common time, 108 bars), Finale: Allegro (A minor common time, 295 bars.)

Returning the score tomorrow so having a listen. Nothing more "modern", I think, than Scriabinesque harmonies, well-written for repeated listening and very enjoyable- a good discovery (he says after listening to the first two movements, but I doubt the third and fourth are going to change my opinion for the worse.)

Yes- there's only one surviving piano trio by her. (That is me being picky in the comments too)
