The interesting conductor Jörg Faerber- who mostly concentrated on music before (and after!*) our orbit, but I see may have made recording premieres of a few works inside it too?** - died yesterday.

* Tcherepnin, Hartmann...
** Or at least early recordings of Sinding's piano concerto, and I believe the first recording of Stavenhagen's only piano concerto. Works by Danzi and Krommer, too, if we stretch a little.

Thanks, Eric. That's sad news. The range of my interest in music was enhanced by his recordings for Turnabout, which were affordable and often featured excellent performances - but, as you say, outside the remit of UC. I had no idea he had also recorded 'modern' music.

At least several times in the last - few years really? - it's only on hearing that someone's died that I find out the breadth of their contribution, anycase... (although I have the Stavenhagen recording.)
