Wheesht

Hans Gelbke, was born 18 February 1875 at Davos-Platz, Switzerland, the son of a German hotelier and manager of the Schweizerhof at Davos.
He studied at the conservatoire in Cologne with: Franz Wüllner (composition), Isidor Seiß (piano), F. W. Franke (theory, organ), Arno Kleffel (conducting). After positions in Dresden and Aachen he took on the newly created post of general music director in Mönchengladbach, where he established regular organ and symphony concerts.
His compositions include:
- a piano sonata
- a string quartet in G minor (1904)
- an overture for orchestra
- choral and lieder
In 1992 the Rheinisches Bach-Collegium recorded his string quartet. I have been given permission to share this, for private use only, so if anyone is interested, please PM me..
