Among all symphonies that deserves to be on CD, my vote goes for Haarklou's fourth because it is a very impressive work, especially the mighty opening. Adolf Reichel's second is another candidate. And of course the rest of Kalliwoda's symphonies from CPO.

Suggestions & Problems / Re: Welcome back!

Although i like "romantic" music. So has the greatest discoveries, thanks to this forum, been unsung composers such as Skulte, Arnic and Stoyanov. But as I understand, no longer fit in? For me, is still music that evokes feelings the main thing, whatever label. It was a necessary development of the music during the 1900s, as the "romantic" music tended to get lost in clichés. But I am still an advocate for the beautiful music, like Vasks, for instace, is he a romantic composer?

Must be aneurysm then. Have searched in all my swedish literature about the cause of his death. But have not found anything more specified than that he died of disease. On a swedish blog someone wrote about this aneurysm. Yes. Anyway he was one of the founder, here in Stockholm, to a chamber music society, including Jan Carlstedt, called "Samtida musik" (contemporary music) The year was 1960
and the group came to form front against the more Darmstadt oriented composers, who had a kind of power position. The group wrote music that was more rooted in neo-classicism and romanticism. A kind of moderate modernism. Where the lyrical and melodic are prominent. There is a beautiful violin sonata of Bo Linde that somehow characterizing this style. Poetic and intense. Feelings for real.

As far as I know, did he not commit suicide. It was a hernia in the neck that suddenly broke.

I have also become dependent on Blaz Arnic. It is a marvellous symphony (the 5th). Does anyone know how to find this cd with his eighth symphony? Or you have to cycle to Ljubljana and buy it.

Hard to choose just one. But Ok. Sung: Bruckner 7  Unsung: Kalliwoda 6.  (For the Andante).

Tartini here. Or actually Peter from Stockholm, Sweden. I share all your people's passion on this stimulating forum for unjustly forgotten music. I thought, after forty years of listening and collecting, that there were no more to discover. But I was wrong. New discoveries never cease, as it seems. Would like to thank for all the great music that is available here for listening. Without your contributions, I had probably missed the amazing music of such unsung composers like Raichev, Juzeliunas and Mukhatov. Unsung Composers is also a rich source of much knowledge. I'm impressed. Thanks all!

Don't know how "correct" this site is. But here is a link to the whole symphony. You have to register before download. http://classical-music-online.net/en/production/22608 Anyway you can listening here.

I think the 5th movement in the second symphony is missing. The whole symphony is about 45min.
Thanks anyway for upload. It is a great symphony.http://www.unsungcomposers.com/forum/Smileys/default/smiley.gif

After hearing this Stojowski symphony (thanks to the aboev) i was astonished to hear that there is no commercial recording of this passionate work. Incredibly. What a shame. It is a lovely work and ought to be on record!

Yes, it is really a strong piece. Very original. Sometimes it reminds me of a composer from my country, Ture Rangström, with the mix of expressionistic romanticism and some folk tune. Apparently there is no end to new discoveries. And thanks for that!
