Come to think of it we haven't heard from good ol' Hofrat in a while.  Think I might email him.

I am so very sorry to inform you that my father "Hofrat" has passed away, on the 26th of April.
My dad suffered from Cancer in the past 3 years.
He left a son, and a grad-dauther that will hopefully be born late Aogust. He will never see her.
May he rest in peace.

Naxos will be releasing the 1st cd of Joachim Eggert's symphonic music in January 2012.

I, too, await the first CD of Joachim Eggert's symphonic music.  According to my calendar, there is still time.

A bit of a non sequitur perhaps, but the maximum running time of a CD appears to have been determined by the length of Beethoven's Ninth. See here.

Beethoven also had a hand in the setting of the 33 1/3 RPM speed in the LP era.  That was the speed needed to record Beethoven's 5th symphony on one side of the LP.

When is his birthday?  If it is February 29th, then he wrote the book at the age of 40.

Yes, there are two rather short overtures, each one connected to Eggert's stage music:  "The Moors in Spain" and "Svante Sture."  It was suggested to Naxos to use these overtures to "beef-up" the 1st CD, but Naxos wants to save all of the stage music for a separate 3rd CD. Anyway, even if the overtures are used in the first CD, a conductor is still needed for recordings purposes. 

As I wrote in the past, I have no direct sources in Naxos.  As far as I can ascertain, Naxos will record Eggert's "Largo" in F-minor and add it to the E-flat major and C-major symphonies already recorded and this will be released as the 1st Eggert cd.  I do not know if a conductor has been found to record the "Largo" and the other 2 symphonies (in C-minor and G-minor).  I have learned that the printed 2011 catalog of Naxos recordings does not list Eggert in its "up-coming releases" section, so I assume that the 1st Eggert cd will not be released until 2012.

If anyone has more accurate information, please enlighten us.   

To be more accurate in the examples I stated, the Eggert C-minor symphony calls for a "basset horn" in F, as does Beethoven's "Creatures of Prometheus."

Joachim Eggert's C-minor symphony (1807) calls for a bass clarinet in its 2nd movement.

If I am not mistaken, Beethoven's "Creatures of Prometheus" calls for a bass clarinet in several of the dance numbers, the only time LvB scored one, but alas he is not unsung.

TAhere are numerous manuscripts of Joachim Eggert waiting to see the light of day:  10 string quartets, a piano quartet, 7 cantatas, and stage music.

I have a CD featuring Andreas Staier and the Concerto Koln performing Dussek's piano concerti in G-minor (opus 49) and B-flat major (opus 22) recorded by Capriccio (10-444) in 1995.  I have not listened to it for some time now but I will find time to pop it in the old CD player and give it a listen soonest.  I have other CD's of Dussek's music if anuyone is interested.

In my modest CD collection I have the following Kullau works:

1.  Flute trio opus 119 (Erad 141).  Also recorded on the CD are flute trios by Beethoven, Hummel, and Czerny.
2.  Overture and ballet music from his stage work "Everhoj" opus 100, a piano concert in C opus 7, and a concertino for two horns and orchestra opus 45 (FRC 9108).

They are very pleasing pieces.  If I remember correctly, Kuhlau was well received by Beethoven and the two spent a night of drink afterwhich Beethoven wrote a little canon for Kuhlau. 

Arte Nova Classics has recorded all four of Raff's piano trios in a 2 CD set.
