I have in my diary a CD release date of October 26th.  Can anyone confirm or update, please?

I see a PDF mentioning that Daniel Glover recently (as of September 2025) made the world premiere recordings of this work and Beryl Rubinstein's concerto in C with the Lithuanian National Symphony in Vilnius, to be released on the Reference Recordings label in 2026, but that PDF doesn't give anything more specific...

Ilja

I have a recording of Glover's performance of this with the Saratoga SO under Jason Klein, which appears to predate the Lithuanian one. It's inoffensive enough, but also rather forgettable if I'm honest - a bit like the Gablenz concerto but without the tunes.

You are making me listen to the Gablenz,Ilja, but the longer it meanders, the less impressive it becomes. The Borowski is far more taut.

I see that Gablenz's concerto is dated September 20, 1926... (FLP catalog entry)

Presto has it scheduled for release in early November. The SACD is titled 'American Triad', the third composer being Bloch.

Oh, I didn't suggest that one emulated the other - this is a case of similar music language, I suspect. Still, as rambling as the Gablenz can be (particularly in the over-long first movement), the ennui is eventually compensated for by its grand sweep, something that the Borowsky rather lacks in my view.

Daniel Glover says that the Borowski/Rubinstein disc will be released on October 23rd in the comments on the Saratoga Youtube video.

If they ever record Borowski's 3 symphonies (composed even later, in the 1930s), I hope they will fall within the orbit of this forum and look forward to seeing the discussion here (but more proximately, to hearing them first ;) )
